A wireless USB adapter is a great way to connect your Wi-Fi to the PC or laptop. It is attached to the USB port of the device and works by changing the signals obtained from the computer into radio signals and sending them to the required device such as the router. That being said, the Linksys AE6000 is an amazing wireless mini-USB adapter specifically designed to obtain signals with speed. But, just like many other wireless adapters, it can also cause some problems for its users. Linksys AE6000 Problems
1. Computer Not Recognizing Linksys AE6000
It can be quite frustrating when you connect the Linksys AE6000 to the USB port of your computer, but the computer is unable to recognize it. In such cases, it is possible that the Linksys AE6000 is not properly connected to the computer. If that is so, then remove the adapter, wait a few seconds, and then plug it in again properly.
It is also possible that the USB port of your computer is dirty or damaged. If dirt is the reason for this problem, then remove the adapter. Use a soft brush and remove the dirt from the port and connect the adapter again.
On the other hand, If the USB port is damaged, then it will not work and hence, not recognize the adapter. Check if other devices can be connected to your computer via the USB port. If not, then you need to get your computer’s USB port repaired or replaced with a new one.
Another cause for the computer not recognizing the adapter can be because Linksys drivers are not installed in your computer. In such a case, simply install the drivers by following the steps given below:
- Right-click on My computers.
- Click on properties.
- Click on the hardware tab.
- Choose device manager.
- Click the “+” sign present before the network adapters option.
- Choose Linksys AE6000.
2. The Adapter Is Not Working Properly
If you notice the adapter to not work properly, then the first thing you should do is to remove the adapter from the computer. Wait a few seconds. Then, connect the adapter again. If this does not help, then check the device with some other computer. If it does not work with any computer, then it might have been damaged.
Also, check if the drivers for the Linksys adapter installed on your computer are working properly. If they are working fine, then the problem is in the adapter because of which it will need to be replaced. But in the case of the drivers acting up, follow these instructions:
- Enter windows key + “x”.
- Select device manager.
- Click in network adapters and select the adapter.
- Right-click on the Linksys AE6000 and choose to enable the option.
If the issue persists, then the only other thing you can do is to fully reinstall the drivers.
3. The Adapter Cannot Connect To A Wireless Network
If the adapter is connected to the computer but has a problem connecting to the router, then you can follow the following instructions to solve this problem:
- Open the Wi-Fi networks on the computer.
- Click on the Wi-Fi.
- Then, click on forget the password.
- Wait a few seconds and then reconnect the Wi-Fi to the computer.
If these steps do not help, then check if the adapter is capable of picking up the signals from the router. For this purpose, move the computer close to the router while the adapter is attached to it. Check if the signals are increasing or not. If they are not increasing, then chances are that they might have been damaged. In such a case, it is recommended to buy a new adapter.
You can also check if the MAC address of the adapter has been added to the router’s MAC filtering list or not. Normally, the router allows every kind of adapter to connect to it easily. However, if the MAC filter address option is on, then you might have to manually add the adapter’s MAC address to the MAC address list of your router.
