Insignia TVs have been around for decades, and they have improved a lot. That’s to say because the latest versions have microphones for voice command. On the contrary, the Insignia microphone not working is a lethal issue, and it’s limiting people from using the TV. So, let’s check out the troubleshooting methods!
Insignia Microphone Not Working
1) Internet Connection
Long gone the times when TVs would only need satellite or cable connections because the modern TVs need an internet connection. If the microphone is not working, there are chances that the internet signals are weak. For this reason, you have to open the settings from the Insignia remote control. From settings, open the network and internet tab, and move to the advanced settings.
From the advanced settings, open the network status and check the internet connection. If the remote is not connected to the internet, connect it, and the microphone will work (and voice control, consequently). If it doesn’t solve the microphone issue, check the next solution.
If speaking into the microphone is not working, it might be the pairing issue. The remote has to be paired with the TV to work properly. For pairing, it’s best to consult the manual that came with the Insignia TV. However, if you don’t have the manual, you can always pair the remote on your own. For pairing, you have to choose settings by pressing the home button.
Then, register the remote control, and there will be pop-op instructions on the TV screen. You just need to follow the instructions, and the remote will be paired. Once the pairing is complete, you can try using the remote control, and the microphone will work.
3) Microphone Position
When it comes down to using the microphone with Insignia remote control, you have to be mindful of the microphone position. Usually, the microphone is positioned on the top, so locate the microphone. That being said, you should use the remote control by placing the microphone closer to the mouth. Also, you must talk clearly and loudly for the microphone to work.
In case there are other wireless devices around, it can cause interferences. This is one of the prime reasons that the microphone won’t work (it uses wireless signals as well). That being said, you have to remove such devices and ensure that they aren’t in closer proximity. Once the frequency interference is eliminated, the microphone will work fine.
The microphone in the Insignia remote control needs the batteries to work. The remote has to have charged-up batteries to ensure all functions are working. If you haven’t changed the batteries in a long time, get a new pair of batteries. On the other hand, if the batteries are new, just remove the batteries and insert them again (they must be securely and firmly inserted).
In case these troubleshooting methods don’t fix the microphone issue, it’s suggested to switch off the TV and switch it on after some time. This will reboot the TV and might fix the incorrect configuration that’s causing the microphone issue. Also, do remove the power cable while rebooting the TV.
