The wireless network and connections are incredibly popular, which is why people use routers. However, with the wireless connections, there are upstream channels (responsible for optimizing the upload speed). When it concerns the upstream AP, it helps optimize the upstream channels. So, if the upstream AP is missing, you won’t be able to use the upstream settings. So, let’s see how we can fix this issue!
Upstream AP Is Missing
1) Router Location
For instance, if you are using the laptop downstairs and have placed the router upstairs, it will adversely impact the signals. As a result, the signals from these routers will bounce off and cause signal issues. With this being said, it’s suggested to shift the router to the phone line, and it will increase the signals.
2) Reset
The missing features usually occur due to incorrect settings and configurations. For this reason, you need to press the reset button on the Linksys router for thirty seconds to reset the router. Once you reset the router, the settings will be deleted, and even the incorrect settings will be eliminated. With this being said, once the router switches on after the factory reset, you should configure the router by connecting it through the ethernet cable. Also, you can enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser and log into the router for resetting it to default settings.
3) Security
While using the routers, you need to be incredibly focused and concerned about security. First of all, it’s better that you change the login password of the router and make sure it is a collection of characters, letters, and alphabets. Once you have changed the login password, you can also change the network name of the connection, also known as SSID.
After making these changes, you should enable WPA encryption. So, open the wireless tab and scroll down to the wireless security. There will be various encryption options available, but the suggested one is the WPA-pre-shared key as it has better security standards. Also, you will need to add the network key for this (use long passwords for this purpose).
4) Reboot
Believe it or not, rebooting the router will solve the majority of issues associated with the wireless connections. With this being said, switch off the router for around one minute and switch it on. This will help the router refresh the signals. In addition, rebooting the router will help resolve the minor software configuration issues that might be causing the missing features and missing upstream AP. Some people directly opt for the factory reset, but it’s better that you try rebooting the router. This is because the factory reset will delete all the customized settings and configurations.
The bottom line is that these methods should have fixed the error. However, if it doesn’t, you should contact the internet service provider and share the error details with them. They can send the refresh signals your way. In case the internet service provider doesn’t have any solution for this, call the router company and ask them to troubleshoot your router.
