The DHCP server is important for establishing streamlined connectivity. Similarly, people using TiVo, they would know that the DHCP server is important. The DHCP server makes sure that users can connect to TiVo and stream the content. However, some users have been complaining about TiVo can’t find DHCP server error. With this article, we are sharing the troubleshooting methods!
TiVo Can’t Find DHCP Server
1) DHCP Adapter Settings
If you have a similar error, it’s best that you check the settings of the DHCP adapter. This is because the DHCP server tends to assign the IP address automatically. However, sometimes users disable the automatic assigning, which results in the error.
You need to open the TiVo settings and go to the adapter settings. In the settings, you can see if the DHCP server option is enabled. If it’s disabled, enable it for proper functionality.
2) Router Settings
If you use TiVo, you would be aware of the fact that it uses an internet connection. Similarly, the DHCP server issue might be occurring due to incorrect router settings. With the router network, the DHCP settings on the router will be responsible for managing the IP devices of devices, including the TiVo device.
That being said, you have to check that the ending and beginning addresses of the DHCP must be matching with the gateway address. If there are changes, just correct the addresses.
3) Network Driver
The network adapters are important for optimizing the internet connection and overall connectivity. If there is a DHCP server error with TiVo, there are higher chances that the network adapters are outdated. TiVo devices are designed to work with the internet, so you need to keep an eye on the network adapters and drivers.
For this reason, you have to check the network tab on the system and make sure the network drivers are updated. Even more, if you don’t know, you can download the third-party software for scanning the system. Such software can scan and display information about the available updates for network drivers. So, update the network driver on the system, and it’s likely to resolve the DHCP server issue.
4) Network Adapter Troubleshooter
If the TiVo can’t find a DHCP server is still appearing, you need to run the network adapter troubleshooter. If you don’t know how to change the troubleshooter, we have the information for you. So, type in “troubleshoot” in the search bar of the system, and choose network adapter from the right side. Then, hit on the “run troubleshooter” option.
Once you hit the button, the system will scan for the errors and will identify the potential reasons behind this error. Once the troubleshooter identifies and solves the issue, you need to restart the system. In addition, we suggest that you reboot TiVo as well.
5) Customer Support
Calling customer support is your last resort if the “TiVo can’t find DHCP server” is still incurring. That being said, call the internet service provider or fixing this issue. On the other hand, if ISP cannot resolve the issue, you can also call TiVo customer support.
Or you can just unplug the adapter wait 10 and replugged it. That worked for me
