There are some lights indicators on the modem that signify the modem status. So, if you are seeing red light on Windstream Modem, here is what it means and how you can fix it.
Red Light On Windstream Modem: The Reason?
The reason behind this red light on the Windstream Modem is pretty simple and it means that you are having an error with the authentication. Windstream Modem needs to have the right credentials to be connected over the DSL line and that is a great thing for security.
So, the red light indicates that you are not connected to the DSL connection due to some issue with the authentication. So, here is what you need to do to have this fixed.
1) Check the Credentials
The first thing that you will need to do if you are unable to connect with the internet and your modem is showing a red light is to check the credentials that you are using. It should be pretty easy and you will have to access the computer that you have connected with this modem. Once you are there, you will be able to connect using the right credentials. This should be helping you with the connectivity and the red light on your modem will be gone for good.
2) Reset Credentials
If you are a network administrator, this should not be an issue for you and that will solve the problem for you. If you are unable to connect that, you should be resetting the credentials and that will work. If you don’t have the access to reset the credentials, you will have to contact your network administrator to have the credentials reset over the Internet and that will all you are going to need to have this work.
Once you have reset the credentials, you can sign up on the network again using the right credentials. The light will blink for a moment or two and afterward, you can use the modem without getting any sort of errors on it with the authentication.
3) Restart Modem
You will have to restart the modem afterward if you are unable to make it work. You can try restarting the modem once if you are unable to connect it, and that will solve the problem most likely. However, if that has not worked for you, you will have to reset the credentials on your modem and then restart it for the settings to be saved. After that, the modem will be up and running in no time at all and you can use the Modem without getting the red light on it and the internet connectivity will be stable.
If nothing works out for you, you should contact your ISP as there might be some issue at their end and they will be able to fix it for you.
