1. Firmware
To begin with, you need to update the firmware on the router. That’s to say because the corrupted firmware will not allow you to access the webpages or use the internet at all. So, you can update the firmware by logging in to your Linksys account and the dashboard will have the update available. So, just download the firmware and install it on the router to fix the issue.
2. Reset
In case you are suspecting the issue with the router, you need to go out with the reset option. Yes, you need to reset the router by pressing and holding the reset button for around thirty seconds. Once the router has been reset, you need to take out the power cord from the router and plug it again after ten seconds. After this time, the power light will stop blinking.
3. Power Cycle
Going ahead with the reset option can be pretty complicated because you need to enter the settings again. So, you can first try to power cycle the router. With this being said, power cycling must be done by taking out the power cord from the router as well as from the power outlet. Keep in mind that you need to take out all the cables. After thirty seconds of taking out the cables and connections, plug them back in and you will be able to get rid of the flashing light.
4. Ping
With the power light flashing, there are chances that the IP address will not be assigned properly. So, now you need to ping the router. The router can be pinged by opening the command prompt window and type in the router’s IP address after entering the ping. There will be following commands and prompts, so just follow them and you will be able to fix the flashing light.
5. Hardware Issue
If the power light is still flashing after following the troubleshooting methods, there are chances that the router is not working properly because of the hardware issue. With this being said, you need to call up the technician and have him look at the router. If they suspect the hardware issue and identify him, just get it fixed and the flashing power light issue will be solved. If you cannot access the technician, you will eventually need to replace the router!
