Google Fiber is a high-speed internet service that is being offered by Google in the US. It is one of the fastest internet services in the US. The users using Google Fiber have reported speeds up to 1000 Mbps. Although Google Fiber is a highly reliable and hassle-free Internet service, sometimes the users do face issues. One of the main issues that have been reported by many users is seeing a flashing blue light on the Network box.
Google Fiber Network Box Flashing Blue Light: What Does It Mean?
According to Google Fiber if the Network Box is blinking blue it indicates that it is trying to establish a connection. In most cases, it goes to solid within a couple of minutes. However, sometimes the Network Box is not able to establish a connection and in such cases, the blue light keeps flashing. If you are facing this issue then there are a few steps that you can take to troubleshoot the issue. They are mentioned below.
1) Power Cycle
The first thing that you can do to troubleshoot the issue is to power cycle the Network Box. Power cycling solves the connectivity issues in most cases. To power cycle the network box, first, unplug its power cord. After that wait for at least 10 seconds. Then plug the power cord back into the device. Now wait for 2 to 3 minutes and check if the LED turns to solid blue. If it still does not turn to solid blue you can continue with the following steps mentioned below.
2) Network Issue
There is a possibility that you may be experiencing a disruption in service due to a network outage in your area. However, it can be confusing to know if that is the case or if it is because of some other reason. You can figure that out by going to the Google Fiber Outage Search Page. There you can enter your street address and check the status to see if there are any known outages at your location.
If there is an outage, you can just wait it out as the Google team would be working to fix the issue. You can expect it to be fixed within a few hours. However, if there is no outage mentioned at your location and you are still facing the connectivity issues then the issue is most probably specific to your connection.
3) Contact Google Fiber Customer Support
If you have tried the steps mentioned above and you are still seeing the flashing blue light, then it can either be an issue with one of the devices. Or it can be an issue with the fiber cable to your home. You will need to contact Google Fiber customer support. Tell them the issue and they will guide you as to how you can fix it. If you are unable to solve the issue through phone guidance, they will most probably send a technician to take a look at the installation and the fiber to your home. The technician will be able to find the issue and resolve it on the spot.
