Netgear EX2700 is a great device for people who want to extend their wireless network coverage and have better signal strength across their place. It comes with advanced networking features, including dual-band coverage and twin antennas to propagate the signals. There are also LED indicators on it that show the status of your network and the extender’s performance. These lights can blink, be solid green or red, and all of them indicate something different. So, let’s see what the Netgear EX2700 device light red means as well as the solutions!
Red Light On Netgear EX2700 Device – What Does it Mean?
The solid red light doesn’t signal seamless internet connectivity as it indicates the status of your network. The red light means that the EX2700 is unable to connect to your Wi-Fi network or is unable to locate any Wi-Fi network that it can connect with. Fortunately, the solution is quite simple, and you just have to connect it properly to a Wi-Fi network for the red light to go away. To fix the red light, here are a few solutions that you can try!
1. Distance With The Router
The distance between your router and extender is important as it impacts the internet signals’ distribution. The distance needs to be as low as possible, but you need to ensure that you are placing the extender at a suitable location too so that you can achieve optimal coverage. It is recommended that you check the distance and install EX2700 at a place where signals from your router are easily captured. Ideally, the router and extender should be placed in the same room or in the central part of the home. Once the distance issue has been resolved, press the WPS button on both the router and extender to connect them.
2. Check Compatibility
You also need to ensure that the router you are trying to connect is compatible with the EX2700. If you are using a third-party router, it could lead to compatibility issues as well. Just make sure that both of them are compatible with each other. The list of compatible routers can be checked through the owner’s manual or simply reach out to the OEM if you are using a third-party router.
3. Devices Connectivity
Another thing that you will need to check is the device connectivity. If you have connected any smart home hubs or any other smart devices with your EX2700 already, you will have to disconnect them as they cause signal interference. In addition to this, you have to disconnect the Ethernet cable before you start the connectivity process to ensure an error-free connection.
4. Factory Reset
If the red light doesn’t go away after trying all the above troubleshooting, there could be something wrong with the network discovery or connectivity protocols. For this purpose, you have to opt for a factory reset since it helps reset all the settings to their default configuration. For the factory reset process, you need to keep your EX2700 connected to power and press the factory reset button for 5 seconds (you could also press the reset button until all the lights blink on your range extender). Once the lights blink, you can leave the button, and your extender will be reset. Now, you can connect it to your router, and it will work seamlessly without the red light.
