Everyone turns to Roku whenever they want unlimited access to entertainment because it allows the users to stream whatever they want. The Roku is usually connected to the TV and works through the internet. So, if the Roku light on but not working is impacting your TV experience, we have everything you need to fix this issue!

Roku Light On But Not Working – What Does It Mean?

Before we move on to the fixes, one needs to understand the real reason behind the issue. So, if the Roku is not working even if the light is on, it’s highly likely the software and configuration issue. Now, let’s see how you can fix the issue!

1) Restart

First of all, you need to restart the Roku. You can restart the Roku by pressing the home button and navigate to the settings. From the settings, scroll down to the system and click on the system restart option. You will need to navigate and scroll around through the arrow buttons on the Roku remote. So, once you hit the button, the Roku will restart and it will make sure that Roku starts working again.

There is another method with which you can restart the Roku. So, first of all, press the home button x5 times, then the up arrow once, rewind button twice. Then, press the fast forward button twice and this sequence will restart the Roku.

2) Roku Software

So, you are probably still here because the Roku didn’t work. In this case, you will need to download and install the Roku software. Usually, the updates happen in the background (yes, automatically). However, if your internet isn’t high-speed, there are chances that software hasn’t been updated automatically. So, you can update the Roku software by opening the settings and moving to the system tab.

In the system tab, scroll down and press the system update option. If there is an update available, the new window will show and you can download it in the system. Once the update is downloaded and installed, the Roku will start working optimally.

3) Factory Reset

In case nothing is working out for the issue, we suggest that you conduct the factory reset. The factory reset will delete all the settings, along with the network settings and downloaded channels. For factory resetting the Roku, you need to open the settings and move down to the system tab. Then, move to the advanced system settings and click on the factory reset option.

Once you click on the factory reset option, click on the factory reset everything option and follow the prompts on the screen. After the factory reset is complete, you will need to enter the settings again but the Roku will start working.

4) Cables

If the light is switched on but the Roku is not working, there are chances that Roku is not getting the electric signals from the cable. It can happen due to internal damages and fraying. So, we suggest replacing the cables and choose an HDMI cable for better performance.
