First of all, you should try to clear the Kodi library. For this purpose, you’ve to open the settings, scroll down to media, and tap on the library option. From the library, you have to tap on the “clear library” option – it will clear the Kodi library, which means the duplicate files will be eliminated. The duplicate files are made when two or more files are saved on the library and have the same source – it is recommended that you check the file path and source from the same page.
It’s better that you check the file information of every file in the Kodi library, which means you can easily locate the dead entries. The dead entries are the files that fail to play properly, and you’ve to remove them to prevent file duplication. Another way of removing the duplicating files is to remove the source, and for that, you can follow the below-mentioned steps;
- Open the videos tab on Kodi and go to the files
- Locate the source that you want to remove and highlight its source
- Open the context menu and tap on the “remove source” option. As a result, the confirmation window will appear, and you’ve to press the “yes” button to remove the source
- When you press the “yes” button, you will be asked if you want to remove every item from the library path. You need to press the “yes” button again to remove video titles from the source
- Lastly, you must open the settings and tap on the “clean library” option to finalize the file removal. When you press this option, you will get two options, keep and remove. Pressing the keep button means that the movies will be visible in the library, while the remove button means that database entries will be deleted (it’s recommended to use the remove option)
Another way of deleting the duplicate files is to remove the individual titles from the Kodi library. For this purpose, follow these instructions;
- Go to the title that you need to remove
- Open the context menu and hit the manage button
- From this menu, tap on the “remove from library” option
- When the confirmation popup appears, tap on the yes option, and the title will be removed
