The internet routers are designed with a variety of indicator lights to show the status of the internet connection. In the majority of cases, the green light shows high-speed and active internet connection, but nobody knows what an orange light means. So, if your Netgear WiFi extender has an orange power light, this article has all the solutions that you can try!
Netgear WiFi Extender Power Light Orange
1. Firmware
To begin with, the problem could be caused by outdated firmware. Many people don’t understand this, but Netgear is a high-end brand, and they regularly launch firmware updates to make sure the units keep working properly. For this reason, it is important that you check the availability of the firmware and download the firmware if an update is available.
If you don’t know how to check the availability of the firmware update, you must open the settings and tap on the update option. In case a firmware update is available, it will show up in this section, and you have to click on it to download and install the firmware update. Once the firmware is properly installed, the Wi-Fi extender should be restarted as it helps resolve the orange light.
2. Reboot
The second method of resolving the orange power light is rebooting the router and modem that’s connected with your Wi-Fi extender. For rebooting, you should switch off the modem as well as the router for ten seconds. After ten seconds, switch on the modem and router. If the orange light is still there, you will need to disconnect the related cables and connect them after some time again.
For cables, you should plug them out, wait for five minutes, blow into the cable jacks, and connect the cables again. Lastly, you have to reboot the modem and router after disconnecting the cables as well.
3. Reset
Another possible solution of fixing the orange power light is resetting the Wi-Fi extender. The reset will bring your unit back to the factory default settings, and the data that could be causing the orange light issues will be deleted as well. There are two different ways of resetting the Wi-Fi extender; from the web user interface and pressing the reset button.
The reset button will be available on the back or side of the Wi-Fi extender, and it can be pressed with the help of a paperclip. You will have to press this reset button for around ten seconds to ensure a reset is successful. After the reset, the Wi-Fi extender will switch off and turn on automatically after a few seconds. Once it switches on, we are sure that all the lights will be green.
4. Power Supply
When the power light turns orange, it could mean that the Wi-Fi extender doesn’t have a proper power supply. This is because your Wi-Fi extender needs a consistent power supply. To fix the problem, you should check the power cable and make sure there are no damages to the cable. Secondly, do check the electrical socket to ensure it is providing enough electrical signals.
